About

Zulynette is an internationally touring queer Boricua poet, spoken word artist, and author whose work serves as a visceral masterclass in personal expansion, communal healing, and narrative reclamation. 

Born in Chicago and raised in Hartford, CT, her artistry is deeply rooted in a fierce love for community. Emerging from hard spaces, Zulynette’s explosive main-stage performances act as an urgent, universal invitation for audiences worldwide to be bold, expansive, and radically curious about themselves. 

As a 2026 Arts & Science Council Emerging Creator Fellow and a highly skilled facilitator holding a Master of Social Work (MSW), Zulynette bridges the gap between high-impact theatrical performance and therapeutic community practice. By intentionally incorporating mental wellness and structural healing frameworks into her sets and workshops, she crafts immersive, sensory-rich environments that cultivate brave spaces for profound individual and collective transformation.

Zulynette is the author of three celebrated poetry collections: Building a Powerhouse (2017), Seeing in the Dark (2022), and Becoming a Soft Woman with a Machete (2025). She is also the Creator and Director of the annual storytelling production, A Little Bit of Death, and co-hosts the poetry podcast 2 Daddies & a Poem alongside her creative partner, Soop.

Her multi-layered work has been featured in They Call Us, The Hartford Courant, Review: Literature and Arts of the Americas, and on-air with Connecticut Public Radio and NBC Connecticut.
